Blackberry Porsche Design P'9982
BlackBerry and Porsche first teamed up to launch the BlackBerry P'9981 back at the start of 2012. It's a luxury QWERTY smartphone with a stylish industrial design that was priced at an eye-watering £1,275.
Now the two have joined forces again to produce the BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9982. This time around they've gone for a full touch-screen design and upped the ante further by raising the price to an inflation-busting £1,450. So what do you get for money
All Porsche on the outside
When you buy a Porsche smartphone you expect it to look luxury and to make the super-car manufacturers branding the main focus of attention. Thankfully, the P'9982 delivers on both counts
The Porsche logo is engraved into the top of the smartphone's stainless steel case, which is of the finest quality and has been given a satin finish. The back cover is covered with genuine Italian leather and is finished-of by a stylish glass pane that houses the camera lens
Those who buy the phone will get an exclusive BBM Pin ensuring that their friends are aware of their new Porsche smartphone. They also bag an exclusive Porsche wallpaper, a Porsche ringtone and a certificate of authenticity
But simply BlackBerry on the inside
Essentially, the BlackBerry P'9982 is a slightly modified version of the BlackBerry Z10 with an modified exterior and a boost up to 64GB of on-board memory. With the only other difference being that the Porsche smartphone comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry 10.2. A limited Crocodile edition will be available exclusively from Harrods in December
That means you get a 4.3 inch touch-screen (1280*720 pixels) with the smartphone powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It's a 4G-ready smartphone that has an 8 mega-pixel snapper and a 2 mega-pixel front-facing camera for video calling
The BlackBerry P'9982 has the same 1800 mAH battery as the Z10, which is disappointing because we criticised the smartphones battery life in our review. And for the money you might expect a high-end specification, which this definitely isn't
However, the BlackBerry B'9982 isn't about specification, it's all about prestige. It's industrial design and the huge Porsche logo are bound to turn heads and be the envy of all who come across it.
Availability
The BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9982 will be available from Harrods on November 21st for £1,450. Next, becoming available from the Carphone Warehouse on November 25th, followed shortly after by Selfridges
